Garments

Before deciding what the yarn ‘wants to be’ I sit with it for some weeks until it reveals the shape it is to be. Often starting with knitting a spiral pattern, it grows often using the principles taught to be by Katharine Cobey in her book, “Diagonal Knitting” containing all her wisdom and brilliance. Knitted linen shawls in every hue wrap the shoulders of my Dear Ones, given as gifts for significant events in their lives…or just when it seemed right. Sweaters, vests, tunics, coats are all different, all infused with meaning and love. I knitted an entirely white cashmere coat for my mother’s 80th birthday which she never wore but was buried with her to keep her warm for eternity.
