Weaving

Weaving is a way of relaying stories as well as making useful articles of clothing and rugs, as well as jewelry. I weave large rugs up to 4 by 8 feet in a “Room of my own” in the attic on my large floor loom, and smaller pieces on my vertical cherry Navajo Loom that Ralph built for me. I have even woven small necklaces on a loom made of a styrofoam block with pins! The stories told through these weavings of are nature (“The Pond” with antique wooden cormorant swimming on top,) of loss (“The Twin Towers”), My “Carpet Bag” for traveling with my fiber art equipment around the world.

Sheep wool, hand spun yarn, turkey feathers and Lincoln Sheep locks, knitted shoulder strap, woven on my Navajo loom

“Tribute to The Twin Towers: Now twined with plane slicing through as we watch in horror” (woven on floor loom using natural colored hand-spun sheep wool weft with linen warp)

Wearable Weavings: Woven on small loom using embroidery thread for warp and weft and decorated with beads made of bone and glass.
